Petco has one day a month that they clip pet nails for free.  Call your local store for details, mine is on the 7th.

For someone who grooms their pet at home but is scared to do nails….this is awesome!  I just paid $15 for my vet to clip them.

Random House is giving away a free book to everyone that requests one this July!  I’ve already read the Charles Martin one (he’s one of my favorite authors) and it was VERY good.  I was tempted to request that one just because it’s a signed copy of the book….but I went ahead and chose one I had not already read.

Old Navy is having their Men’s Better Half Off sale.  Everything in the men’s section is half off…even clearance items.  Some great deals, be sure to check it out!  Sale runs through Father’s Day, June 21st, in store only.

If your family doesn’t have prescription coverage (and is struggling to cover the costs of expensive medications) check out the Partnership for Prescription Assistance.  They have links to pharmaceutical companies that offer free and low cost meds to families that can’t pay with full cost.

Mon County Public Library has several free movie showings for the summer.  Bedtime Stories will play at 1 PM June 22, Hotel for Dogs at 1 PM on July 6, and Inkheart at 1 PM on July 27.

They have a large selection of storytimes at the main library, the Star City Town Hall, and the Clinton District Library.  There are also a ton of really neat looking classes and programs which are NOT free….but very reasonable ($10 per class).  Check out the full schedule and listing on their website!

Barnes and Noble has a weekly storytime Wednesdays at 10 AM.

Michaels often has kids craft classes.  Some are free, some you need to buy a small product for the class (like a t shirt or tote, less than $5).

You can also check your local Lowes and Home Depot stores for kid’s building activites that they plan weekly.

Summer is a comin’….so let’s get those kids reading with some cool free incentives!

First, Barnes and Noble is doing their summer reading program again.  Your child needs to read eight books (and document it on the provided journal, it’s easy) and they will get a free book!  We do this one every year, and it’s worth it!  The eligible books are not cheapies…and my son has a hard time picking just one!

Also, check out Book Adventure (through Sylvan).  It’s an online incentive program where your child reads a book, takes a quiz, and earns points.  Points can be redeemed for prizes.  Most are small…a chocolate bar or some tattoos….but there are several ebooks and a 6 month subscription to Highlights.  Parents can also create their own reward coupons for children to work toward.

Be sure to check your local bookstore, libraries, and parks for free storytimes to bring reading to life for your kids!
